Bharat Taxi to Start at Pune Airport: AAI Introduces Fixed Fare Airport Cab Service

Viman Nagar, 13th February 2026: The (AAI) will introduce the Bharat Taxi service at Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airports. In the first phase, these two airports in Maharashtra have been selected to provide passengers with a reliable and commuter-friendly taxi service.

The decision was taken on February 5 following rising complaints against private aggregator companies such as , and . AAI has decided to roll out the Bharat Taxi service, which will be operated by the (NCDC).

On a pilot basis, the service will be introduced in phases at 11 AAI-operated airports across the country — Rajkot, Patna, Vadodara, Bhuj, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Surat, Kanpur, Varanasi, Agra and Prayagraj. An agreement has already been signed to implement the proposed service.

Passengers have frequently reported issues such as surge pricing, especially during late-night hours and peak travel periods. Under the Bharat Taxi service, fixed and transparent fares will be charged for travel to and from airports, eliminating additional or inflated charges. The move is expected to make airport travel safer, simpler and more affordable.

For the service, the (NSDC) has developed a secure and user-friendly mobile application. Drivers registering on the app must be the original vehicle owners and can charge only according to fixed per-kilometre rates. The entire profit will go directly to the driver-owner, ensuring better earnings without intermediary commissions.

According to Bipin Kumar, Director, Airports Authority of India, the app-based Bharat Taxi service has been launched in line with Central government directives to provide safe, transparent and passenger-centric transport facilities. The service will initially begin at 11 AAI airports across the country.
