Government to launch 'Bharat Taxi' with profit-sharing model for drivers: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, December 24, announced that the government will soon launch the Bharat Taxi’ service, which will operate on a profit-sharing model with drivers, ANI reported.

Addressing the Sahkari Sammelan in Panchkula, Shah said the initiative is designed to enhance customer convenience while boosting drivers’ earnings.

“Through the initiative of the Ministry of Cooperation, we will soon launch ‘Bharat Taxi’, every bit of whose profit will go to the driver brothers. This will enhance customer convenience and also increase drivers’ profits,” he added (ANI).
The government initiative seeks to integrate drivers directly into the revenue model, ensuring that they earn a fair share from each ride. Officials indicate that the model will improve service quality for customers while providing a steady income stream for drivers.

Shah also highlighted Haryana’s contributions to the nation, particularly in food security, dairy production and sports achievements. He noted that farmers from the state have consistently brought pride to the country across multiple sectors.

“Livestock rearing, agriculture and cooperatives, if all three are combined, prosperity can be created through cooperation,” Shah said, emphasising the importance of integrated economic models for rural and agricultural growth.

The minister further underscored the growth in government spending under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Since 2014, the agriculture budget has increased from ₹22,000 crore to ₹1.27 lakh crore, while the rural development budget has grown from ₹80,000 crore to ₹1.87 lakh crore, highlighting the government’s focus on supporting farmers and rural communities.

Haryana and Punjab, he added, have played a crucial role in making India self-reliant in food grain production and have earned global recognition for their contributions. The state also contributes the highest number of soldiers per capita to the Central Armed Police Forces and the three armed forces, reinforcing national security.

The Bharat Taxi’ initiative reflects the government’s focus on combining technology, cooperative frameworks, and inclusive profit-sharing to enhance livelihoods, particularly for drivers across the country.
