HDFC Bank ATM UPI cash withdrawal rule changes from April 1, 2026: Free transaction limits, fees explained


HDFC Bank has announced that Unified Payment Interface (UPI) based cash withdrawals at its ATMs will now be counted within the monthly free ATM transaction limit. This will be effective from April 1, 2026. Note that once the HDFC Bank free transaction limit is exceeded, charges will be applicable.
From April 1 onwards, UPI cash withdrawals at HDFC Bank ATMs will be treated the same as regular ATM cash withdrawals. After exceeding the free limit, a fee of Rs 23 + applicable taxes per transaction will be charged.

Free ATM transaction limits for HDFC Bank savings, salary accounts

HDFC Bank currently offers the following monthly free ATM transaction limits for savings and salary account holders:
Customers can make 5 free transactions at HDFC Bank ATMs. Other Bank ATMs (metro cities) offer three free transactions, while other Bank ATMs (non-metro cities) offer five free transactions. When these limits are exceeded, relevant charges are imposed.HDFC Bank also applies specific charges for ATM usage abroad:
For the non-managed section, there is a charge of Rs. 25 + applicable taxes every balance enquiry and Rs 125 + applicable taxes per cash withdrawal, plus a 3.5%# cross-currency markup.
For the managed segment, Rs. 110 + applicable taxes per cash withdrawal + 3.5%# cross-currency markup, and Rs. 15 + applicable taxes each balance inquiry.
# Only the Infiniti Debit Card is subject to the 0.99% preferential cross-currency markup.
