Lucknow: Bharat Taxi (Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited) has launched its driver app in Lucknow.The app allows taxi and auto drivers, referred to as ‘Sarathis’, to register on the platform and start receiving ride requests. It also enables them to track their earnings and manage their work more effectively.Bharat Taxi follows a zero-commission model, allowing drivers to retain their full earnings from each ride. Unlike conventional ride-hailing platforms, the initiative is structured as a cooperative, where drivers are part of the system as partners rather than just service providers.In Lucknow, the initial focus is on building a strong driver network, after which passenger services will be scaled up. The service is currently operational in Delhi-NCR and in Gujarat. With the launch in Lucknow, the platform is expanding its presence and aims to reach more cities in the coming months.Bharat Taxi (Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited) is a multi-state cooperative of drivers, based on the principles of fair income, shared ownership and dignified livelihoods. The initiative is being supported by national cooperative institutions, including NCDC, IFFCO, GCMMF (Amul), KRIBHCO, NAFED, NABARD, NDDB and NCEL and the ministry of cooperation.Riders are charged only the applicable trip fare based on distance, time and market conditions, without additional convenience fees or surge pricing, in keeping with cooperative principles of transparency and affordability.
