CRPF Vacancies 27,000; CAPF Resignations Up 86%


The central government told Parliament on Wednesday that there are 93,139 vacant posts in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Assam Rifles. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai shared this information in a written reply.

He said the highest number of vacancies is in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with 28,342 posts, while the lowest is in Assam Rifles with 3,749 posts. Rai added that the government has taken several steps to speed up recruitment.

These include annual constable recruitment through the Staff Selection Commission, appointing nodal forces for major ranks, and using radio frequency identification technology during physical tests.

The government also said that resignations in the CAPF have increased. In 2021, 1,255 personnel resigned, while in 2025 the number rose to 2,333, an increase of about 86%. At the same time, cases of suicide, fratricide, and voluntary retirement have decreased.

More than 4 lakh drivers are associated with Bharat Taxi

The cooperative sector’s Bharat Taxi will be expanded to all major cities within the next two to three years. Minister of State for Cooperation Krishna Pal Gurjar said the service is currently running in Delhi NCR and in the cities of Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Somnath, and Dwarka.

So far, more than four lakh drivers have joined the service.

Gadkari said – Green Expressway to be built from Surat to Kurnool

The government plans to build a green expressway from Surat to Kurnool, passing through Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Solapur. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the project will reduce the distance between Delhi and Chennai by about 320 km. He also said that once the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is completed, the journey between Delhi and Mumbai could take around 12 hours.

  • Over one lakh pension complaints registered in 2025: The government informed the Lok Sabha that 1.07 lakh pension complaints were received on the portal in 2025. The average time to resolve these complaints was 19 days.
  • 31 lakh people benefited from the PM Surya Ghar Yojana: The government said that under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, rooftop solar panels were installed in 31.12 lakh homes by 6 March 2026. The target of the scheme is to reach one crore homes by 2027.
  • No data on SC/ST representation in senior positions: The government said that separate data on SC/ST representation in posts of Joint Secretary and above is not maintained. However, in promotions, there is 15% reservation for SCs and 7.5% for STs up to the initial category of Group-A posts.
  • Cannot make miraculous claims in TV advertisements: The government said that advertisements on private TV channels must follow the Advertising Code under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. Advertisements cannot make claims of miraculous properties, and action is taken if the rules are violated.
