Bharat Taxi is India’s first large-scale cooperative-based ride-hailing platform, designed to place drivers at the heart of ownership, operations, and value creation.
Operated by the Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL) under the Ministry of Cooperation, the platform is registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002.
Established on 6 June 2025, Bharat Taxi aims to strengthen cooperatives as a powerful tool for employment generation, social security, and grassroots-level economic participation, while freeing drivers from exploitative commission-based aggregator models.
Drivers on the platform are called “Sarathis”, reflecting the core philosophy: “Sarathi Hi Malik” (The Driver Is the Owner).
Key features of Bharat Taxi
